One of the decisions we made when we started Dancing Fools Press was that it is very important to us that we help others with a portion of the profits generated by DFP. Because we were unable to find a national or international organization that focused on women's literacy, we've chosen instead to commit to lending 1% of our profits through Kiva to women running their own businesses.

We're happy to announce that we've made our first loan. :)

Once this microloan has been repaid and/or we've reached the threshold to start another loan, the money will be lent to another businesswoman, furthering the goals of Kiva and the women they empower.

BTW, I've been watching for your next call for submissions. One woman in my writers' group has three truly good novels and I'd like to suggest to her that she submit to you. She has an agent, but is getting no movement on them. I think they're really good, gripping mysteries, and I've had my head in them with her for years, since we all critique each other's novels.

Well, that's timely. My group meets next on March 31, but I can send her a link.

Very cool! Sounds like a great microloan program. It's wonderful that y'all are doing this.
